Context and Need

A First Nation with a rich culture and history, Piapot First Nation wanted to preserve and expand its educational materials for future generations. Piapot First Nation engaged OneHoop to develop accessible educational materials to provide to community members on the history and importance of the Piapot First Nation flag.

Our Approach and Solution

As part of the project, we worked alongside Chief and Council to engage with Elders in the community to understand the possible need and desire for revitalizing the flag. Following this initial consultation with community leaders, we worked directly with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to develop both short- and long-form video documentaries, pamphlets, and other materials.

Outcome

The educational materials developed were made accessible to community members and have been integrated into the Chief Payepot School’s curricula for students to learn more about their community’s history, culture, and stories.
