Context and Need

As a company with passionate and experienced people delivering clean energy projects globally, RES wanted to build on its ability to show up as a strong community partner in Canada. OneHoop supported RES with their approach to supporting Indigenous communities and peoples into this vision.

Our Approach and Solution

Building off the successful development of and lasting relationships built during the Bekevar Wind Project, we worked with rightsholders and stakeholders to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan for RES. Our team members brought their lived and professional experience to develop a tailored Reconciliation Action Plan that focused on Indigenous equity and energy sovereignty. The resulting Reconciliation action plan not only defined RES’ approach to Indigenous relations and reconciliation over the next four years, but was developed to be responsive as RES continues to scale and develop more energy projects within Canada.

Outcome

Brought to life by Chris Chipak (Red Pheasant Cree Nation), the Reconciliation Action Plan for RES weaves Indigenous stories and values together with RES’ commitment to creating positive impact.

Quote

Peter Clibbon, Senior Vice President, RES in Canada, said: “RES’ RAP reaffirms our commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples in Canada. The renewable energy business takes us directly to where Indigenous Peoples have a unique and long-lasting connection to the land and waters. We are committed to nurturing deeper relationships with Indigenous communities and dedicated to recognizing Indigenous histories, diverse cultures, and unique perspectives as vital.”
